Tech:NYC’s Decoded Futures Welcomes Seventh Cohort, Helping 24 Nonprofits Put AI to Work
Tech:NYC’s Decoded Futures kicked off its seventh cohort, bringing together 24 nonprofits to explore how AI can strengthen their organizations and support the communities they serve.
Running from October 13 through November 17, 2026, the no-cost, five-week program helps NYC-based social sector organizations build AI proficiency through learning, experimentation, and collaboration. Following our sixth cohort, this latest group will explore how to put emerging tools to work in ways that advance their missions.
Nonprofits bring a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing their communities. Decoded Futures connects that expertise with technologists, building partnerships that help organizations move from questions about AI to practical applications.
Meet Cohort 7
This cohort brings together organizations working across education, health, housing, food access, immigrant empowerment, arts and culture, and more. They enter the program with different missions and a shared interest in understanding how AI can support their work.

What’s Ahead
Over the next five weeks, participants will learn alongside their peers, experiment with AI tools, and explore opportunities to apply them within their organizations. The focus is on building the knowledge and confidence to make thoughtful decisions about where AI can help and how to use it responsibly.
For nonprofits, those opportunities can take many forms, from making information easier to access, reducing time spent on administrative work, or helping teams better understand the data they already collect. The program gives participants space to investigate possibilities grounded in their own needs, with their missions and communities guiding the work.
The connections built along the way are just as valuable. By bringing nonprofit leaders into conversation with peers and the tech sector, Decoded Futures creates opportunities to share lessons, work through common challenges, and learn from one another’s experiments.
We’re grateful to Google.org, Robin Hood Learning + Technology Fund, and the Altman Foundation for supporting this work and helping make the program available at no cost to participating organizations.
We can’t wait to see what this group learns and builds. Follow along for updates and stories from Cohort 7 as participants put AI to work for their missions.
