Tech:NYC’s Statement on the 2023 State of the State Address

Tech:NYC issued the following statement in response to today’s 2023 State of the State address by Governor Kathy Hochul:

“Governor Hochul outlined a bold and exciting vision for New York in her historic State of the State address, and the tech sector stands ready to help the state reach its full potential. Ambitious housing growth, public transit expansions, accessible mental health and childcare investments — these priorities will go a long way toward reaffirming New York’s status as an attractive place to live and work. We also applaud the Governor’s commitment to a robust list of proposals that advance the New York tech sector, including efforts to create new tech training and early college programs, support electric vehicles and other green technologies, reform the state’s online services and websites, and provide matching grants to early-stage tech startups.

We’re at a pivotal moment for the state’s economy. It’s more important than ever that private and public sector leaders act on a shared commitment to create more jobs that are accessible to more New Yorkers. The tech sector has been a key driver of the state’s economic growth, and today we have the greatest opportunity to cultivate the next game-changing startups to emerge from this downturn. We look forward to working closely with the Governor to do just that.”
