Decoded Futures Cohort 6 Demo Day Showcased AI Capacity-Building for Some of New York’s Most Influential Funders

This week marked the culmination of a special edition of Tech:NYC’s Decoded Futures: Demo Day for Cohort 6, a group of funders and philanthropists committed to deepening their understanding of AI capacity-building, developing shared frameworks, and strengthening AI-informed giving.

Now in its second year, Decoded Futures brings together eight-week cohorts of 20-25 social sector organizations paired with technologist volunteers from NYC’s leading companies. Across our programming, we’ve worked with 220+ NYC nonprofits and 1,200+ nationwide. For this latest cohort, we focused on a group that plays a critical role in powering New York City’s nonprofit sector: its funders.

The need for this cohort became increasingly clear over months of conversations in the social sector: As AI expands the capacity of nonprofits, funders are working to understand how the impact of their own work evolves, how AI acceleration can reshape timelines and scope, and of course, how they can use AI to build their own capacity and better serve their grantees. Special thanks to our friends at Siegel Family Endowment, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and Robin Hood Learning & Tech Fund for recognizing the scale of impact in this edition and jumping in to make it possible.

The cohort included:

Our deep gratitude to the technologist volunteers who helped teams think through usability, user experience, and implementation — often across multiple projects within a single organization.

Congratulations to Decoded Futures Cohort 6!
