Welcoming Julie Samuels Back to Tech:NYC

Tech:NYC released the following statement today announcing the return of founding Executive Director Julie Samuels as President and Executive Director:

Tech:NYC Board Chair Fred Wilson:
“Today, Tech:NYC Executive Director Jason Myles Clark is stepping down and our founding Executive Director, Julie Samuels, will return to lead Tech:NYC into its next chapter.

“Jason accomplished a great deal, including co-publishing groundbreaking research reports on tech’s impact here and cultivating productive relationships with community and city leaders. I speak for the entire tech community in thanking him for his leadership and the collaborative spirit with which he approached this work. Jason will have more to share about his future soon, and we wish him luck in his next endeavor.

“I am also thrilled to welcome Julie, the organization’s founder, back to Tech:NYC as President and Executive Director. Julie grew the organization from five founding members to more than 800 in just over five years, and as anyone who has worked with her knows, is a passionate advocate for the industry and New York City as a whole. Julie stayed active in the tech community after her first stint as ED, joining Hangar as a Partner, and will keep that position as she picks the reins back up at Tech:NYC. I can’t wait to see what she and the strong team at Tech:NYC accomplish together.”

Tech:NYC Executive Director Jason Myles Clark:
“The New York tech ecosystem is the most creative, dynamic, and impactful in the world.  I am proud of what we accomplished and grateful to have worked with so many brilliant people during my tenure as Executive Director of Tech:NYC. As a lifelong public servant, I am very excited to share what’s next for me as soon as I am permitted. In the meantime, I know that Tech:NYC will continue to be the driving force in growing New York’s innovation industry.”

Incoming Tech:NYC President & Executive Director Julie Samuels:
“I couldn’t be more excited to re-join the supremely talented Tech:NYC team and dive back into all the important work this organization does on a daily basis. I also want to congratulate Jason on an admirable tenure as Executive Director, and wish him the best of luck in his next step. While the industry no doubt faces economic headwinds, I’m as optimistic about the future of tech in New York as I’ve ever been, and I look forward to working with all the smart and dedicated people who want to see this city reach its full potential.”
